Chief Charlie beck meets with residents about LA shooting (Video)

Posted August 20th, 2014 @ 2:22pm

Chief Charlie Beck and other Los Angeles officials met with residents and activists concerned about the police shooting of an unarmed black man.

The Los Angeles Times reports more than 200 people often interrupted Beck Tuesday night at a South LA church as he tried to address concerns surrounding the investigation into the death of 25-year-old Ezell Ford.

Officials emphasized that the probe was only a week old, saying that officials had not yet gathered all the facts.

The chief said earlier Tuesday that autopsy information would be withheld until investigators can finish interviewing witnesses.

A family member told the Times that Ford had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.

The Aug. 11 shooting has sparked a few peaceful protests — including one on Sunday involving several hundred activists and black community members.
