According to the LA Daily News, backlash to Mayor Eric Garcetti's push for a higher minimum wage has started to surface in many places. The head of one of the state's largest apparel trade groups is saying the wage increase would drive manufacturers out of the state.
Ilse Metchek, president of the California Fashion Association, said that the minimum wage hike targets the apparel industry unfairly.
Roughly 28,000 apparel workers would see their paychecks grow, but those costs will be absorbed by manufacturers and might cause them to leave the city or state.
