Gay rights activists are fighting to end a ban on gay blood donors.

The federal policy stops any man who has had sex at least once with another man since 1977 from donating.

The Los Angeles Times reports the American Red Cross and other organizations have pushed the government to end the ban, but the FDA has refused.
