Sex offender 1 day out of jail busted for lewd acts in Walmart bathroom

(Tyler Ray Berthoud - Palm Springs Police Department)

25-year-old Tyler Ray Berthoud, from the Oak Hills area of Hesperia, was arrested Wednesday for going into a bathroom stall occupied by a teenage girl at a Palm Springs Walmart and committing a lewd act.

He did this just one day after he was convicted and released from jail for misdemeanor counts of sexual battery and child annoyance committed in Wildomar.

Berthound was booked on suspicion of attempted lewd acts on a child under 14 and false imprisonment, both of which are felonies.

He stuck his head underneath the bottom of the bathroom stall where the 13-year-old girl was inside, and then he went into the stall and masturbated in front of her. He didn't physically harm or molest the girl, but witnesses say they could hear her screaming.

A group of people apprehended him when he left the bathroom.

In the Wildomar incident, he tried to pick up two teenage girls at an area McDonald's. He then followed a woman into her apartment complex and grabbed her butt.

He was sentenced to one-year in county jail and had to register as a sex offender, but he had already done enough time to allow him to get out on Tuesday.

But now he's back in jail and his bail is set at $55,000. This guy is not going to change. Ever. He should never be let out.
