The remains of 5-year-old Aramazd Andressian, Jr. have been found near Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara County.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement detectives returned to the area Friday, “based on additional leads.”

“Homicide detectives have located the remains of the victim,” it said.

Ed Winter, the assistant chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, said the body was flown to its facility near Downtown L.A. by helicopter Saturday.

He said dental records or x-rays might be needed to confirm the identity, and he declined to offer details about where the remains were found or their condition.

Andressian, Jr. disappeared while with his father April 20. The two were last seen late that night leaving Disneyland.

Last week prosecutors announced the father, Aramazd Andressian, Sr., had been arrested in Las Vegas and charged with his son’s murder, even though no body had been found at the time.

Andressian, Sr. was flown back to Los Angeles Friday and was expected to make an initial court appearance on the murder charge Monday.
