State bill would ease professional licensing rules for immigrants

A state senator is pushing a bill that would ease the work licensing process for illegal immigrants.

Currently, the state does not grant processional licenses to anyone who does not have a Social Security number.

The LA Times reports the bill by Democratic Senator Ricardo Lara would allow about 40 state boards to accept a federal taxpayer ID for anyone who cannot provide a Social Security number.
