A new program that teaches inmates how to start and run high-tech businesses has begun at L.A. County jail.

The "Last Mile" non-profit group teaches select prisoners about the dot-com industry, even though inmates are not allowed to use the Internet while locked-up.

Founder Chris Redlitz says it's been successful at San Quentin state prison, and classes began in L.A. this month.

Volunteer instructors from major tech companies have taught classes.

The six-month program up north has already led former inmates to internships and jobs.
