Big data is leaving the US.

A report says about a quarter of British and Canadian companies are moving their data storage out of the US over the past few months, largely because of the documents and information about NSA spying being leaked by Edward Snowden.

Peer 1 is a cloud-hosting provider based in Canada, and it surveyed 300 Canadian and UK businesses and found 25% of them were moving storage out of the US.

And 77% of decision makers at those companies said they would sacrifice data performance and speed in favor of more security outside America.
