The Mayor of Bell says the Salvation Army wants to provide housing to some of the illegal immigrant kids who've been crossing the border from Central America.

Nestor Valencia says the Salvation Army wants to convert warehouse space to accommodate 125 kids. Some of the space is already used to house homeless people.

Valencia tells KFI's Steve Gregory if the project gets the greenlight it could help restore some of the tainted reputation Bell got during recent scandals with city officials. Valencia says the city council still needs to approve the Salvation Army's request.
