A federal appeals court in Pasadena has upheld the state's ban on the sale of foie gras, a delicacy made from the fattened livers of force-fed ducks, affirming a lower-court decision not to block the law.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected arguments that the measure interferes with interstate and foreign commerce and is too vague.

The court remanded the case back to a federal judge in Los Angeles.
