Scientists may have discovered the part of the brain responsible for bad decisions.
Researchers spotted the region, called the lateral frontal pole, after scanning the brains of healthy people in two different ways.
It's an area of the brain that considers the decisions we've made and what we might have done instead, especially when the decisions turn out badly. Further scans haven't found the same area in the brains in monkeys, which suggests this may be exclusive to humans.
One expert says the study is "stunning" and could be a big help in understanding and treating psychiatric diseases.
